Toronto-based Canaccord Genuity Group Inc. announced on Tuesday that Jason Panzer has been appointed managing director, investment banking.

Based in New York, Panzer will lead the firm’s new fintech investment banking and advisory practice, working in collaboration with the U.S. technology, media and telecom (TMT) group, which currently operates as CG Petsky Prunier. (Cannacord acquired New York-based Petsky Prunier in February.)

Panzer brings 20 years of industry and advisory experience to the role. He served as partner and chief operating officer of investment banking advisory firm Marlin & Associates for the past 10 years. Panzer will report to Dan Coyne and Sanjay Chadda, co-heads of Canaccord Genuity’s U.S. investment banking business.

“The addition of a dedicated FinTech capability is a strong complement to our recent acquisition of Petsky Prunier and enhances our offering within the dynamic TMT verticals, allowing us to deliver outstanding value for the businesses and private equity firms that we serve,” Jeff Barlow, president of Canaccord Genuity LLC, said in a release.
