Janine Guenther, an industry veteran with three decades of experience, has become the first woman to lead Vancouver-based Dixon Mitchell Investment Counsel Inc.

Guenther took over the role of president on Jan. 1 from Dixon Mitchell’s co-founder, Rob Mitchell. She aims to double Dixon Mitchell’s assets within the next six years, according to a release.

Dixon Mitchell, which manages nearly $3 billion on behalf of institutions, foundations, endowments and affluent private clients, was formed in 2000 by a group of portfolio managers.

Prior to holding leadership roles at some of Canada’s largest banks, Guenther worked at family offices and asset managers. She also serves on the editorial board for Advisor’s Edge.
