OBSI welcomes comments on governance reform

In response to recommendations made by OBSI’s independent reviewer, the Ombudsman has created a Governance Committee of the Board to oversee the transition to a new governance structure, develop new policies and processes and consult with stakeholders on proposed changes.

A draft framework for reforming OBSI’s governance structure was recently developed for discussion, and OBSI’s Board of Directors is inviting written comment on each component of the framework.

The framework is guided by the following principles: protection of the independence of the Ombudsman in fact and perception; involvement and commitment of individuals with knowledge and or experience in consumer-related issues and the financial industry; and, continued development and promotion of good governance.
