The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is providing about $2.7 million in funding to national charity Prosper Canada, the regulator said in a release on Wednesday.

Prosper Canada aims to expand economic opportunity for Canadians living in poverty through program and policy innovation.

The OSC’s funding will “allow Prosper Canada and its community partners to deliver financial literacy, counselling and investor protection resources to financially vulnerable Canadians,” said Grant Vingoe, the OSC’s chairman and CEO, in the release.

Allocated from the OSC’s designated funds from imposed sanctions, the funding will occur in annual instalments of about $900,000 over three years.
