Polymer bank note has arrived: BoC

The Bank of Canada will begin circulating the new $50 bill—the first of the polymer bank note series that will be available in automated banking machines—on March 26.

The new $50 bill, which has an image of the Arctic research vessel CCGS Amundsen on the back, will be featured at an official event taking place at the Canadian Coast Guard College in Nova Scotia.

Speaking at the event will be representatives from the Bank of Canada and the from the college, and at the conclusion of the event, members of the media will have an opportunity to find out more about the various features of the new bill and purchase new $50 polymer bank notes.
