Top CFP exam candidates recognized

The Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) has named members to its President’s List for the November 2018 sitting of the certified financial planner (CFP) exam.

The President’s List recognizes candidates who achieve the highest marks out of hundreds of CFP exam writers across Canada. The November sitting had 563 writers.

President’s List honourees are:

• Christopher Ferris from Ottawa, Ont. (first place),
• Jennifer Armstrong from Vernon, B.C. (second place) and
• Haiyan Wang from Burnaby, B.C. (third place).

To qualify to write the six-hour CFP exam, candidates must have successfully completed an FPSC-Approved Core Curriculum education program, the FPSC Level 1 Examination in Financial Planning and an FPSC-Approved Capstone Course.

Successful CFP exam candidates with three years’ relevant work experience are eligible to apply for CFP certification—the only globally recognized mark of financial planning professionalism, the FPSC says in a release.

The next FPSC Level 1 exam takes place June 6; the next CFP exam, June 7.
