Each week, Advisor.ca summarizes notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Kevin McCoy has been named senior vice-president, market regulation, with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization. He was most recently the acting SVP of market regulation operations and has worked in the industry for more than 20 years. McCoy succeeds Victoria Pinnington, who is senior vice-president with the regulator’s transition management office and will retire at the end of this year.
  • Fixed income portfolio manager Jeff Moore will retire at the end of 2024 from Fidelity Investments Canada ULC. Portfolio manager Michael Plage, who works alongside Moore on many funds, will continue in his role and additional investment resources will be added, a release said. No changes are being made to investment objectives or strategies as a result of Moore’s retirement.
  • Kevan Cowan was reappointed as chair of the board for the Ontario Securities Commission. First appointed in April 2022 for two years, he will remain in the role until April 2027. Three new members also were appointed for terms that end in March 2026: Kelley McKinnon, whose decades-long career included time as an executive with BMO Financial Group; Patricia Olasker, a senior partner with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP; and Steven R. Wolff, founding CEO of Nova Scotia Pension Services Corporation and a former leader with CIBC Mellon.
  • Kevin Knopp has joined Wellington-Altus Private Wealth as senior vice-president, practice management. Located in Alberta, he previously worked with BMO Private Wealth as a practice management consultant for western Canada.
