The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, known as Advocis, has added two people to its board of directors: Sara Gelgor and John Hamilton.

The appointment notice, released Thursday, said Gelgor will serve as a public director and that Hamilton has been tapped to also serve as chair of the board for the Institute for Advanced Financial Education — the IAFE is the enforcement body for Advocis’ code of conduct.

Gelgor, who’s currently head of regulatory compliance for wealth and personal banking at HSBC, has served on multiple boards and has been named to the Diversity 50 by the Canadian Board Diversity Council, the release said.

Hamilton has been president of RBC Wealth Management Financial Services for nearly 20 years. He’s been a member of the IAFE board since 2011, the release said, and has chaired an Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) insurance sub-committee.
